This has been a most interesting week for me. How about you? I hope it’s been at least interesting.
This week I’d like to take some time to speak about THE POWER. What power? The POWER inside of YOU, and of course me too.
I didn’t know my grandmother Ruby as well as I would have liked. She was a Pentecostal Minister with her own church. I had a praying grandmother. But one of the things she loved to talk about was the POWER! I never really paid her too much attention when she’d go off on her rant but she’d ask, do you know about the Power? Before you could answer she would respond, “You don’t know about the Power. Let me tell you about the Power,” in a very thunderous voice like a lot of preachers from her day did. And I have to admit I really didn’t know about the POWER until very recently.
So let me explain what I now know about the Power. The same Power inside of you created the vast, never-ending Universe, it created worlds within worlds, it created this planet we live on and it created you. But here is the kicker it did not just create you, it is you. You created all of it. You are the Power. It is not outside of you somewhere out there, it is not separate from you, it’s not something you have to get into, it’s not something you can get out of, it’s not something you pray to, actually it is something you pray and think from. Again IT is YOU!
Since I’ve been studying Neville Goddard‘s lectures, I’ve been brought right back to my old Bible. There are many ancient texts which tell us the same thing and I’ve read quite a few but by no means all. And I am not here to pit any one text against the other. What I’ve realized through Neville’s teachings is the Bible is really a scientific book about the mind. It is all about the Mind and our Imagination.
For the past two weeks several scriptures have just popped into my mind without prompting nor prodding from reading my Bible. I actually hadn’t been reading it these past two weeks. But these scriptures kept showing up. So I gave in. The Power.
2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Well how do you like them apples I thought to myself. We were given power, love and a sound mind, not fear. Fear, it’s brother Doubt and sister Worry are learned. What dreams may come Sydney, if you really believed and accepted this as a fact, was the question I had to ask myself? I could hear my grandmother, “Do you know about the power? You don’t know about the Power!”
Next this is what showed up in my thoughts.
Proverbs 29:18 “Where there is no vision, the people perish; but he that keeps the law happy is he.”
“What is vision?” I had to ask myself. Nothing more than using the Power of your imagination Sydney. And if I keep this law, happy is me. 🙂 Neville so thoughtfully left his writings so we could fully understand how to use our Imaginations. You can revise your day with this Power. You get inside that old rusty Imagination of yours and create a scene which would imply your desire is already done with this Power. Live in the End of your desire already done. I mean really live in it. Give it all the sensory feel of this reality you are living. What would you be touching, hearing, seeing, smelling and saying were this a fact? Replay this scene over and over putting yourself actually in the scene. Not looking at yourself as if in a movie, really feel yourself doing those things while you remain in a drowsy state. Do it as often as you like but don’t try to force anything. Be persistent and consistent until it feels just like reality to you. Remain faithful, loyal to the unseen reality within Imagination and it shall be expressed without.
Finally and lastly This is one that keep me busy for two weeks Matthew 11:30 “My yoke is easy and my burden is light!”
Can I just say this one had me completely stumped! Every time I heard it in my mind, I said either out loud or to myself..”Um What the hell does that mean God. For crying out loud! Your yoke is NOT easy and this burden is very freakin heavy, it isn’t light AT ALL! I just don’t get this scripture and its kinda getting on my nerves.” Okay stop laughing, cause I am laughing too but I was dead serious. Finally this week actually 2 days ago I decided to figure this one out. I searched Neville’s lectures as well as Catherine Ponders writings. The quote was there, but no real explanation. I searched my metaphysical Bible dictionary. Unn-gots! Nothing! Frustrated I decided to look up the meaning of yoke. I mean, I thought I knew what it meant but I had to check just in case I was wrong.
Definition of yoke: a device for joining together a pair of draft animals, especially oxen, usually consisting of a crosspiece with two bow-shaped pieces, each enclosing the head of an animal. Compare harness( def. 1 ) .2.a pair of draft animals fastened together by a yoke: five yoke of oxen.3.something resembling a yoke or a bow of a yoke in form or use. 4.a frame fitting the neck and shoulders of a person, for carrying a pair of buckets or the like, one at each end. 5.an agency of oppression, subjection, servitude, etc.
So I wasn’t wrong. Yoke is exactly what I thought it was. But even worse, ugh subjection and servitude? This did not make me happy at all. I gave up. Well I chose to read a book I hadn’t read since my children were small and I no longer have in my possession. The Game of Life and How to Play it by Florence Scovel Shinn. This was the first book I read which started me on my spiritual journey. This book really compliments Neville Goddard’s teachings in such a delicious way. I found it online here at www.forgottenbooks.org.
As I was reading it and remembering why I loved this book so much I came upon the chapter called CASTING THE BURDEN and the third paragraph in I read this: “A meta physician once explained it in this manner. He said, The only thing which gives anything weight in nature is the law of gravitation, and if a boulder could be taken high above the planet, there would be no weight in that boulder; and that is what Jesus meant when he said My yoke is easy and my burden is light.”Right there the light-bulb went off in my head, the scripture finally made sense. Even the subjection and servitude made sense. If we are all imagination and we have a conscious, subconscious and Superconscious mind (God) then we can really harness this power by putting on the yoke of Christ consciousness. Subconsciousness is neutral it will go where it’s led. If we image disaster it will find disaster and place us there. Yet if we image good for ourselves and others it will find that good and take us there, but it must be guided.
When we cast the burden upon the Superconsciousness(God) and place the yoke of God on our subconscious and image the good we desire consciously, well then we’ve harnessed The Power. We subject the Power and it serves us well. So this week I’ve been casting the burden upon the God Power within and I am set free.We will be reading this awesome book on Sunday in The Indigo Room. I hope you will join me because you just may want to find out about The Power.
“Do you know about the Power? You don’t know about the Power! Let me tell you about the Power.” Thank you grandma Ruby, I am listening now!
