FAQ Indigo Blue Realm, Wolf Territories & OpenSim
I have Never been In a Virtual Reality Before!
What is OpenSim?
OpenSim is shorthand for Opensimulator
excerpt from Opensimulator.org
OpenSimulator is an open source multi-platform, multi-user 3D application server. It can be used to create a virtual environment (or world) which can be accessed through a variety of clients, on multiple protocols, see Connecting. Optional Hypergrid allow users to visit other OpenSimulator installations across the web from their ‘home’ installation or grid. In this way, it is the basis of a nascent distributed Metaverse. OpenSimulator can be used to simulate virtual environments similar to Second Life™. However, OpenSimulator does not aim to become a clone of the Second Life server platform. Rather, the project aims to enable innovative feature development for virtual environments and the Metaverse at large.
What do the homes look like?
They vary. We have 3 suburban residential areas and a few rentals in our city. Some pictures are below:
Do I have to spend money to become a resident?
No, it is free to create an account and an avatar. However, housing is different. At Indigo Blue Realm as a new resident you can have a furnished apartment free for 30 days. If you choose to move into your own home thereafter, there is a small monthly fee.
Oh, so I do have to pay money?
There is a charge for land known as regions in Wolf Territories Grid. You do not need to purchase a region to stay in Indigo Blue Realm or Wolf Territories Grid. Most people however often find having their own home or apartment is preferable. Some regions offer free home rentals. Indigo Blue Realm does not. Our fees range from 3.65 USD monthly to 6.65USD monthly subscription via Paypal.
Child Avatars/Illegal activity.
We do not permit the display of any illegal activity, including sexual role-play with minors and anything that would be illegal in real life. This will result in an immediate ban and report to local authorities. In order to keep children protected in our virtual community we do not allow anyone in the area under the age of 18 years of age.
